What the students say...
The opportunity to learn on the "behind the scenes" of the Venice Biennale was invaluable. The Academy nurtured in me the will to pursue a professional experience within the Biennale one day. We studied in the environment full of warmth and joy. It could not have been better!

Professionals shared the secrets of the trade in an personal setting and we were challenged to try ourselves in a group exercise. The program also includes a visit to the Biennale, to local workshops, which makes the week intense, but also fun and very rewarding.

The dynamic relationships and idea exchanges with fellow students is so valuable. The course gave me sense of validation and calm regarding the direction of my career and personal path through the world of art and culture.

The networks I was able to create during last summer's course at the European Cultural Academy have enabled me to put together my first exhibition in Amsterdam, just as much as the exhibitions I viewed and all the knowledge I gained in Venice have.

ECA is an awesome experience for the beginners and professionals likewise. Beginners can get first-hand insights into the industry of visual arts premium events, and professionals get access to a wide network and can position their work in a global context.

Curator
At the European Cultural Academy I completed all three weeks of the Contemporary Art and Venice Biennale courses in Venice, Italy this past August 2017. As a graduate student currently working towards receiving my masters in Arts Management I jumped at the opportunity to study in Venice when I learned about the course through The Jealous Curator. The experience was amazing and I loved every second of it. Maria and Alex are extremely dedicated to the program and have created an in-depth curriculum for individuals seeking to improve their knowledge in the field of contemporary arts and museum management.

Master student at The American University of Rome
Of course in Venice everything is amazing, but the week of this program made it even better. We were in for an interesting series of lectures that gave insight into the art world and the structure of the Venice Biennale.
The lectures were mixed with activities, and hands on assignments that got the group even more involved and made the intense week also very enjoyable.
The group consisted of an unlikely collection of a wide variety of participants, people I would not have met otherwise, but from whom I have learnt a lot.

Highly recommended for anyone working or wanting to work in the field of art!

What the team says...
Academics, researchers and other experts from the art world present different perspectives and critical contemporary issues that confront professionals today. In addition, we visit relevant exhibitions and cultural institutions in Venice, Biennale included.

Rene Rietmeyer, program curator
Rietmeyer is president of the European Cultural Centre and artist mostly known for his own art form of the "Boxes", stimulated by American minimal art and the so-called new abstraction. He has organized events with artists such as Yoko Ono, Lawrence Weiner, Hermann Nitsch, Marina Abramovic and Mike Parr.
Venice is THE destination of 2018. You will be among the first to discover new talents and review projects from star-architecture studios. Visit the Venice Architecture Biennale, study in a historic Venetian palazzo, and meet international creative crowd!
